You'll Never Walk Alone

“Liverpool FC announced on Tuesday that the Board has agreed the terms of an offer for the Club from Mr. George Gillett and Mr. Tom Hicks. The Board is unanimously recommending that the Club’s shareholders accept this offer.” – Liverpoolfc.tv

For those who not familiar with European football, allow me to say something. There, almost all football clubs is a business organization. They have shareholders, board of director, CEO and of cause manager. Players are just their employees and life assets. Some clubs are public listed company. So, if anybody successfully bought majority of the share, consider they own the club. After Man Utd and Aston Villa, now Liverpool turns to be own by American billionaire. But most club from Spain and some in Italy still run as association basis, where members of the association will elect one president for each agreed term, for example for every 4 years there will election to choose president of the club.

Few comment related to the takeover:

“I believe this is a great step forward for Liverpool, its shareholders and its fans. This club is my passion and forms a huge part of my life. After much careful consideration, I have agreed to sell my shares to assist in securing the investment needed for the new stadium and for the playing squad” - David Moores, ex-Chairman of Liverpool FC

Liverpool is a fantastic club with a remarkable history and a passionate fan base. We fully acknowledge and appreciate the unique heritage and rich history of Liverpool and intend to respect this heritage in the future….We are particularly pleased that David Moores and Rick Parry will have a continuing involvement in the Club. For us continuity and stability are keys to the future.” - George Gillett and Tom Hicks, co-Chairman of Liverpool FC

"The future is exciting….We've heard a lot about the finances and the resources, but the one thing I can promise is that it's going to be a lot of fun” – Rick Parry, Chief Executive Liverpool FC

"They are successful businessmen and they realize the real business of a football club is the business of the first team…..They recognized they need to change a lot of things. There are some aspects of Liverpool which must also remain the same, but it's clear where we can improve.” – Rafa Benitez, Manager, Liverpool FC

I can’t find any comments from Liverpool FC Captain, Steven Gerrard. I believe local lad like him surely will not happy for the idea of his club will be own by American businessman instead of Liverpudlian (David Moores family). There are one comment made by Xabi Alonso to represent players of the club, maybe Gerrard busy with international duty and reporter can't find him. Not even LFC official website, weird.

As a foreign Kop, I hope Liverpool will continue the tradition of incredible passion and pride of the greatest football club ever in history of football.

Who Mr. George Gillett and Mr. Tom Hicks? Read their 1st interview with Liverpoolfc.tv here.
